Teaching Philosophy
I believe that there is no “one size fit all” approach to education.
A learning environment must be tailored to the students, the students should not have to adapt to the learning environment
Every student learns differently and brings a variety of background knowledge, academic strengths and weaknesses and interests to the classroom
Look and pay attention to what students CAN do instead of what they are struggling with
I believe in creating a classroom where students feel comfortable and confident in their abilities.
Be consistent and have clear expectations for students with a behavior management plan
Let the students contribute in creating classroom rules and regulations so they feel ownership and responsibility for their actions and decisions
Make it clear that there is not a right and wrong way to learn; everyone learns in a unique way and has different needs

Promote risk-taking when answering questions because with every question and misconception a lesson is learned
View cultural differences not as a deficit but as an asset on which to build
Create authentic lesson plans that relate to students’ lives and their community
Bring students into the community so they understand they have a role, even as a child
Work to understand students misconception so you have the ability teach lessons more effectively
Integrate technology and other interests of students to make lessons relevant and meaningful to students
I believe that education is a team effort.
Student learning requires a collaboration among, the school, family, and community
Connecting students and families to resources in the school or surrounding community to helps lead to student success
Collaborate with colleagues with ideas for student learning, effective instructional practices and management techniques
Utilize the community’s knowledge and resources to make learning more authentic
A valued and productive relationship with each student is key to enhancing personal growth with each individual.
Show students you care about their thoughts, opinions, and experiences by actively listening to them
Be consistent in the expectation that only a student’s personal best work will accepted
Have a open communication with each individual so they feel comfort in coming to you when they need help or feel uncomfortable
