Graduate Work Showcase

Throughout my journey in the Masters of the Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program, I have had the opportunity to review pedological practices and gain a deeper understanding of learning and technology. On this webpage, you will find some of the coursework that I am the proudest of as a result of this journey. My coursework is organized into three sections: technology, learning, and collaboration. These three words best sum up my experiences in the MAET program.

Technology

One of my initial goals, when I began my MAET journey, was to learn about the best practices for technology integration. I believe that I have accomplished this goal. The artifacts shared below highlight how technology can be integrated to show research, display productive learning spaces, and a reflection on integration in the classroom.

Cooking with TPACK

The video linked above showcases a theory framework I learned about called Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK). This framework combines technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge.

I completed my first quickfire for this project that challenged me to think outside of the box. This experience showed me the importance of analyzing the different technologies that best fit into a lesson if at all.

Designing a Classroom

Using the website Floorplanner I was able to analyze my current classroom design. I used this new site to display my technology skills and promote positive learning spaces in my own classroom.  I created my ideal classroom that would promote student-centered learning, support collaboration, and exploration.

21st Century Learning

When creating a lesson for 21st Century Learning there is a focus on 4C's: critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. The Social Studies lesson that I created demonstrates my ability to take the 4C's and TPACK framework into consideration.

Learning

Being a lifelong learner has always been one of my goals. Throughout my time in the MAET program, I learned a lot of important lessons and information. I learned about different theories of learning, technology skills, and creating meaningful learning opportunities for my students.

Personal Learning Theory

I spent time exploring and analyzing different learning theorists along with my own ideas of learning. From this exploration, I created an essay that highlights these learning theories and how they help us to learn. The way humans learn is constantly changing and it is important to have an understanding of how our views and the views of others play a role in our ideas of learning.

Literacy Learner

I worked one-on-one with a 3rd grade student who needed extra support in reading. I provided intervention lesson plans and assessments based on the results I had from reading interest surveys, reading attitude survey, and Reading A to Z running records. I analyzed the data from the lessons and assessments to determine if they were effective in improving the students reading growth.

Photo a Day

I spent six weeks taking a photo every day of some aspect of my life. After analyzing the photos I had taken I learned a lot about myself and how intersectionality plays a role in my life. This project demonstrating my ability to share my knowledge through digital tools, speaking and writing skills, and as well as embedding videos.

Collaboration

As an educator, I have always known that collaboration is important. Throughout the MAET program the importance of collaboration was emphasized. Collaboration can come in a variety of forms and provide an outlet of options for sharing opinions, ideas, and technology skills.

Professional Learning Network

During this project, I reflected on the communication and experiences I have with others in my professional community. A realization that I made is that many of the members of my professional learning network (PLN) share similar beliefs to mine. I want to work on continuing to expand my PLN to include a variety of viewpoints to help me to gain a greater understanding of the world. After examining my PLN I learned that technology is the best way for me to stay connected and continuing to collaborate with other educators.

Innovative Learning Plan

In this project, I considered the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) when creating a lesson plan using innovative technology. I incorporated the innovative technology of Makey Makey to create innovative and creative learning opportunities for students. The language arts lesson plan I created demonstrates how cross-curricular connections can be made using innovative technology.
